We arrived in the Old Port of Montreal on July 4th. To our surprise, they had a phenomenal fireworks display that evening. We were certain it was just for us! The marina we selected was in the Old Port area in the heart of Old Montreal which allowed us to easily tour the historic area of this incredible city. We have explored the town, ridden our bikes along the miles of bike trails along the historic Lachine Canal and found an incredible open air market which enabled us to restock. We have met some wonderful people.
Our tour of the Basilica Notre Dame was a highlight. The detailed interior of this gothic revival structure was absolutely stunning; it rivaled anything we have seen in Europe. We have been captivated by this lovely city with its “old world charm”. Tomorrow we depart and will transit two locks on the St. Lawrence Seaway before heading through the Saint Anne de Bellevue and the Carillon Locks then up the Ottawa River to Ottawa. This has been an incredible adventure!
